 Geysir Clothing Store Akureyri

In 1928, a hotel was built in the heart of Akureyri. This is a stately timber house and a landmark in the centre of the town. At the close of the last century the building was in total neglect and strong voices were heard that demanded that the house be torn down. Fortunately this didn’t come about. The building was preserved and restored to its original appearance.

The Geysir store in Akureyri is located in this beautiful house. There we lay emphasis on catering to the needs of tourists as well as other customers.

Geysir Heima is the latest addition to the Geysir line up at Skólavörðustígur, conveniently located just across the road from our store at Skólavörðustígur 7.

The word “heima“, which means “home“ in Icelandic, perfectly sums up the concept of the new store that offers a great range of home decor and design goods from various brands.

Geysir Heima also hosts an in-store art gallery that regularly exhibits the work of local artists and designers.

Haukadalur Geysir Shops

Geysir. This spectacular spouting geyser was formed by a swarm of earthquakes a at the close of the 13t century. The Great Geyser was a magnificent manifestation of the powers of nature but in later years he has calmed down, and now Strokkur has taken over his role.

Haukadalur was the scene of great events in the history of Icelanders. The first pastoral school in Iceland was founded here, and Haukadalur was the seat of rich chieftains and the first bishops of Iceland. Some of them took advantage of the particularly fertile land and devoted themselves to the rearing of the Icelandic sheep.
